Australia Zoo in Beerwah, Queensland

Australia Zoo, located in Beerwah, Queensland, is one of the country's most famous wildlife parks. It was founded by Bob and Lyn Irwin in 1970 and gained worldwide fame under their son, Steve Irwin, also known as "The Crocodile Hunter." Today, the zoo continues to be managed by Steve's wife, Terri, and their children, Bindi and Robert Irwin.

The zoo is home to a wide variety of animals, including Australian natives like kangaroos, koalas, and wombats, as well as exotic species like tigers, elephants, and cheetahs. A key focus of Australia Zoo is conservation and education, and it supports numerous wildlife protection initiatives both locally and internationally.

Some key features and activities at the zoo include:

  • The Crocoseum: A large stadium where visitors can watch crocodile feeding shows and demonstrations featuring birds of prey, snakes, and other animals.
  • Animal Encounters: Guests have the opportunity to get up close with a variety of animals, including koalas, giraffes, and even rhinos.
  • Tiger Temple and Africa Exhibit: Areas showcasing exotic animals such as Sumatran tigers, African lions, and zebras.
  • Conservation Work: The zoo actively participates in wildlife rescue, rehabilitation, and breeding programs, with a focus on endangered species.

The zoo spans over 1,000 acres, making it one of the largest privately-owned zoos in the world, and continues Steve Irwin's legacy of wildlife conservation.
